For PatientsWhat to Expect on Your Initial Visit . . . - Your initial visit will begin with photocopying your photo ID and insurance information for our records.
- Next, you will review and sign for understanding of our clinic policies.
- Additionally, since our clinic is focused on incorporating the latest research into practice, you have the opportunity to contribute to research by consenting for your clinical information to be confidentially used for research.
- Our gathering of your health concerns begins next by filling out short questionnaires about you. These surveys are intended to help us non-intrusively assess your mood state.
- Next, our clinicians will conduct a 45-60 minute personal interview.
- After the interview, our clinicians will discuss with you options for scientific evaluation of your concerns. A few of these evaluation possibilities may include a variety of objective cognitive testing activities, Quantitative Electroencephalogram (QEEG), or requesting prior medical records.
- After discussing the evaluation process, we will then brief you on treament possibilities. However, full treatment planning is done after the results of your clinical testing have been evaluated, as we are determined to provide you with a treatment plan that is based on comprehensive and objective assessment.
- Since brain function and behaviors are significantly dependent upon the integrity of the system, the underlying medical conditions need to be taken into account. Patients will be asked to provide results of recent laboratory testing prior to the initial appointment. These tests include standard clinical laboratory evaluations and specialized tests such as neuroedocrine function, diabetes workup, cardiovascular evaluation including cholesterol measures, lipid profile, and evaluation of the inflammatory and immune states. If such tests are not available, they may be requested prior or after the initial visit.
